straight from the cow's mouth

Today Allie and I went to Chick-fil-A  to meet with one of my long time friends Elizabeth and her three sweet kids for lunch. Elizabeth and I have been friends since we were 3. I am so thankful for our friendship and that we have remained friends all this time. She lives in Kentucky, so I look forward to her coming home and being able to get together, even if only over lunch. We both LOVE Chick-filA, so it's a great place to meet. Elizabeth has three of the sweetest and funniest kids.  Poor Gavin was completely outnumbered, being the only boy at lunch, although he didn't seem to mind! When we got there Elliegh-Kate was eager to show me her Christmas present. It is a diary, that is in a hard case that only unlocks when she says her password (although Gavin cracked it while they were getting ice cream and somehow made himself sound like her to open it!). She was so cute, so excited to tell me all about it. The things she said while we were at lunch today were just hilarious. At one point Gavin wanted her to go play on the playground and she said, "you can't tell me what to do!". She told Elizabeth after she said something, "it's straight from the horses mouth". I couldn't help but laugh! Allie was so tired, but did so well. She sat in her high chair, ate squash and pears and even let me eat most of my lunch. She loved Elleigh-Kate and the feeling was mutual. Elleigh-Kate was kissing her on the cheek, holding her hand, squishing her cheeks, telling me she was a chubby baby, cracking me up!

After the kids were done eating Elizabeth went and got them ice cream. Elleigh-Kate was eating hers and dropped it on the floor... right on my foot! Bless her heart, I know she was so sad her ice cream was gone. Once they were done eating their desserts we got a picture of all four of them. We took one earlier this summer when Elizabeth came to visit and I cannot believe how much they've all grown!

                                July                                                                                                            December

Allie and I left and came home to get Nick. I called him to let him know we were on our way and he told me he had a surprise for me when we got home. I was so excited to walk in the door and see this:

I love, love, love cotton candy! and late Christmas presents!

We had some returns to make so we left to go to the mall. If we go to the mall, we drive to North Point, but since we just needed to go to Macy's we went to Southlake. We found Allie a really cute outfit that she will wear New Year's Eve... only to find the security tag STILL on it when we got home, so we'll be going back sometime this week. But it is so cute and was on clearance!
We also attempted to clear Babies R Us shelves of Earth's Best baby food! Ha! I can't wait for Allie to try all the new foods we bought. I am not a fan of BRU, but they have a HUGE selection of baby food.
We went to Carter's and got her some really cute things including 3 pairs of pajamas for $6 each!
When we got home we fed Allie, bathed her and got her all snuggled in. I love her so much! Then we tried out my cotton candy machine. You can put hard candy or flavored sugar in. We tried a pixi stick first: fail! They do not work. We then tried a lifesavers.. it worked, but was not good. Nick then tried just plain sugar. It worked perfectly and tasted pretty good too. We ordered some flavored sugar online. I am eager for it to get here so we can try it out!
This is completely random, but I must share. If you have not smelled Mistletoe Kiss from bath and body works you need to! It smells DELICIOUS!

a new playroom

Allie got so many toys for Christmas that our living room was busting at the seams! I told Nick we should just convert the dining room (which looks very pretty, but unfortunately rarely gets used) into a playroom for her. So when she went down for a nap Nick and I got to work. We were able to vacuum, organize and get everything ready before she woke up. She was so excited when she peeked around the corner and saw Nick and all her toys!

 so excited!

my big girl walking into her new playroom

 so sweet!

We spent the whole day in the playroom. The Santa Clause 3 was on tv, but we didn't watch any of it. We had so much fun just playing with our sweet girl and watching her explore her new space. When she first sat down she stayed right in front of her new kitchen and just chewed on the bowl. It wasn't until she had been there for 30 minutes did she begin to explore. She had such a good time, so good she didn't want to nap! After fighting for about 10 minutes I gave up and brought her back and let her play and she was SO happy. Nick and I just soaked up our little girl today and forgot about cleaning, putting Christmas presents away, and didn't let anything distract us from our sweet one.

this little girl has my heart

love him

I know a lot of people shop the day after Christmas, Nick and I used to, but today I wouldn't have chosen to be anywhere else. I loved spending the day with my loves.

Allie's First Christmas

Sorry for such a long blog, please enjoy all the pictures!
I can't believe how fast Christmas came and went! It was a crazy hustle and bustle of a season, but so exciting and fun. I just did my best to soak it all up. I kept telling myself to enjoy it because she would only have one first Christmas. She loved everything about it and became an expert at unwrapping presents! (Especially the ones that were not hers ;)) We have a very big family, so usually our Saturday's are filled with traveling and celebrating, but this year it was all in one weekend! It was a crazy weekend that left our sweet girl exhausted and just wanting Mommy. I have had her Christmas outfits picked out since before we knew she was a girl. I knew I wanted a different outfit for each event. She only has one first Christmas right?! I just love each and every one of her sweet outfits. Etsy is the best place. If you haven't, you need to check it out. That is where three of her four that I bought came from.

I just love this outfit! She wore this to my Nanny & Paw Paw's

She wore this to my Granny D and Papa's

Every year on Christmas Eve we get together in the morning with Nick's family. Since Tony & Cathy (Nick's brother and sister-in-law) moved down to Locust Grove, they had it at their house. We got there around 11 and opened presents first thing. Allie was sitting on the floor in front of me and before I knew it she was completely surrounded by presents! She got so many wonderful toys and the cutest chair from Tony & Cathy.

 loves to tear open presents!

do people think I like zebra print or something?? ;)

 Allie and all her presents!

her Christmas Eve outfit from Osh Kosh

Every year, since I was born we have spent Christmas Eve evening with my Uncle Jerry (my dad's brother), Aunt Sherri, Lindsay, Austin and my Mimi (my dad's mom). It is always SO much fun and we laugh a lot. I love my family and enjoy this family tradition. We always do something different each year. For a few years we had Brown Family fun night where we had competitions and played games and had a trophy. This year we did a white elephant game with good gifts. It was a lot of fun. I left with a Target gift card and a bag of gummy bears! It was so neat to see Allie interact with everyone and she did so good, even though she was up way past her bedtime and had only had one good nap in the car on the way there. She was even given a few presents to open from my Mimi. She got Lion King on blu-ray, a really cute purple sock monkey & the Fisher Price laugh and learn puppy.

We bathed her while we were there and put her in her jammies, so when we got home I fed her and we put her to bed. It was so much fun to get to play Santa for the first time! I loved setting all of her things out and arranging them. We didn't end up getting in bed until 3!

 Santa came!

We were so very thankful when she slept for 8 hours straight! :) She woke up so happy on Christmas morning. I teared up as she crawled to her ball pit.

Nick's presents from me!

Our living room all ready for Christmas morning!

I just loved watching her see and play with all her new toys. She held two of the balls while we opened our presents. We had to take a break so she could eat cereal and take a nap. We ate sausage balls, just like we do every year and opened all of our gifts. My parents came over at 2 to hang out and then my sister and her hubby came over around 4:30 for supper. We ate homemade lasagna that my momma made. It was delicious. As if there weren't enough cookies and sweets, we got a cookie cake for dessert! Allie had so much fun, but was completely exhausted from all the festivities so we bathed her and put her to bed. She didn't even put up a fight. She slept so good!

love her expression!

Allie had such a great Christmas and we had so much fun celebrating her first. She is just the sweetest thing and has done so well with all our traveling and craziness this Christmas season. I am truly the luckiest girl in the whole world. I have a beautiful daughter, the sweetest Hubby and the most amazing parents. We are healthy, have a roof over our heads, food on the table and so much love in our little family. I hope that everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
